Hot on the heels of NewNet’s 24Meg ADSL service in August 2007 with their expansion into Local Loop Unbundled (LLU) exchanges, a new super fast service has been successfully tested.

The new super fast ADSL has been designed to use two telephone lines to provide a seamless Internet service with downloads up to 40Meg.

The service bonds the lines together and uses a special router designed by ZyXEL Communications that was shipped to NewNet for the first trials in this country.

Lee Marsden, ZyXEL Communications Sales Director said: "ZyXEL is delighted to be working in partnership with NewNet, assisting their product development and helping them to open up new ADSL services on their LLU enabled exchanges."

Peter Coates-Buglear, CEO, NewNet plc commented: “This service will be unique in it's capability for 'plug and play' bonded service, no other units we looked at were this easy to use. We are pleased that several months of hard work and liaison with ZyXEL and other suppliers has resulted in a new service that we will roll out on our LLU enabled exchanges. The 40Meg service is yet another example of NewNet pushing the boundaries and setting new standards for service delivery.”

Hsinchu, Taiwan, April 16, 2008-- ZyXEL Communications (TSE: 2391), the world's leading broadband access solutions provider, once again won the 2008 German Reddot Design Award with its Omni-directional Antenna and Dual-band Wireless N Gigabit Router, following its VoIP series win last year.

Founded over 50 years ago by Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen, the most prestigious design association in Germany, the Reddot Award has become one of the highly celebrated international industrial awards. In 2008, 3203 entries from 51 countries were meticulously inspected and evaluated from innovation, functionality, aesthetics, marketability, ergonomics and ecological compatibility by internationally recognized experts. The competitive success of ZyXEL designs amidst the impressive competition reaffirms the ability of the com! pany to turn technology products into masterpieces.

"ZyXEL is honored to become a winner of the award for two consecutive years," said Mr. Konica Lee, Assistant Manager of ZyXEL's Creative Design Department. "In the future, ZyXEL will not only keep developing better products for customers, but also keep working on innovations that closely fuse technology, style and quality."

To ZyXEL, recognition from the Reddot Award is another boost to the ANT1106 Omni-directional Antenna, winner of Taiwan's National Gold Award of Product Design in 2007. More than just a bold move away from traditional designs, the simplistic three-piece antenna also provides coverage without annoying dead spots; the polished, streamlined exterior emphasizes its refinements derived from a high-tech root. The magnetic attachment between the antenna and the base offers convenient assembly, as well as a flexible desktop or wall-mount installation to meet different location needs. The unit ! is capable of extending wireless signal coverage by 174% for 2.4GHz Wi Fi routers, access points and PCI to improve connectivity and data throughput.

USG's Help SMBs Reduce The Cost Of Threat Management

Bracknell – April 07 2008: ZyXEL Communications Ltd. UK (ZyXEL) today releases its Unified Security Gateway (USG) products, the USG300 and USG1000. The new products provide small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) with the next generation of Unified Threat Management (UTM) technology that delivers enterprise-level advanced security at a fraction of the total cost of ownership (TCO).

UK SMBs are undergoing significant changes. The range of security threats they face is increasing as a result of a rise in the use of hosted applications, a growth in VoIP adoption and employee use of Web 2.0 services such as Facebook and Instant Messenger. Government legislation encouraging remote working has also increased the number of Internet ‘break-outs’ – unless properly secured these break-outs provide opportunities for hackers, and unauthorised network access.

The USG range enhances ZyXEL’s existing range of security products. It has been designed for the larger mid-size enterprises and enables them to manage a security policy across multiple ‘branch’ offices and a considerable number of remote workers via a single device. In addition to simplifying threat management the USG hardware also removes the need for individual firewalls to be located at each individual ‘break-out’ – dramatically reducing capital cost and TCO and increasing ease of scalability.

ZyXEL’s new USG technology helps SMBs fight all of these potential threats with functionality like embedded hardware encryption, and robust hybrid VPN support, SSL or L2TP for the securing connections. They also have inbuilt WAN failover support to guarantee the resilience of the business to branch infrastructure.

ZyXEL’s ZyWall and UTM devices remain a cost effective solution for smaller SMBs looking to protect their corporate network. Lee Marsden, sales director at ZyXEL explains, “UK SMBs are facing new and increasingly virulent security threats, on an almost daily basis. Often they struggle to effectively combat these threats because of technology or budget. “ZyXEL’s new USG devices simplify the task of protecting an entire SMB’s, increasingly distributed, network, while reducing the total cost of ownership and reducing the number of devices deployed.”

Analyst quote <Quocirca?> “Employees are now working from a variety of locations and business can no longer rely on the protection of a firewall alone. ZyXEL’s new USG range enable larger SMBs to configure security to meet their individual demands and enable them to focus on their growth, with the piece of mind that their network is protected against web-based threats.”

ZyXEL’s USG products are fully certified ICSA SPI Firewalls and IPSec VPN devices enabling SMBs to establish secure communication tunnels between multiple locations, such as remote branch offices, business partner sites, and even unreliable hotel hotspots. Communication channels are securely encrypted so that information leakage and data theft can be mitigated while transmitting confidential information over insecure networks such as the Internet.

“The player that achieves the most ‘kills’ against one of the professionals will be rewarded with the latest “must have” gadget for serious players – a set of ZyXEL PowerLine HomePlug adapters. These are the same devices that are being used by some Team Dignitas members to create a 200Mbps connection between their PC and their broadband access point using their home electrical wiring circuits.”

Michael O’Dell, Team Dignitas Managing Director says, “We’ve recently joined forces with ZyXEL and some of our players have been using their PowerLine HomePlug-enabled routers in the build up to i33. This technology is a must for all serious gamers – providing 200 Mbps connectivity without the reliability challenges of wireless and the need to feed a dedicated cable from the broadband access point to the gaming pc.”

Hsinchu, Taiwan, February 26, 2008 -- ZyXEL Communications Inc., the world’s leading end-to- end network solution provider, will showcase its complete portfolio of IP unified communications solutions for the Small to Medium size enterprise sector at CeBIT in Hanover, Germany - March 4th-9th.
“With the market’s most comprehensive portfolio of applications, ZyXEL enables small to medium businesses to take full advantage of the benefits of a unified IP communications network,” said Dr. Yuh-Long Chen, ZyXEL’s President. “Whether the business is changing its working practices - with new home-working schemes or opening up its network to customers and partners - ZyXEL will deliver the complete solution while eliminating cost and achieving clear productivity benefits for the organisation.”

Gigabit Security as Standard

With internal and external attacks on the increase, SMEs need an ultra high performance, deep packet inspection security platform to ensure truly secure and integrated networks. ZyXEL has built the market’s most comprehensive unified security portfolio. Its award winning ZyWALL Gigabit Ethernet Unified Security Gateway delivers cost effective and easy to manage security, streamlining the management and maintenance process to reduce operational cost while combating the growing threat from identity fraudsters, malicious viruses, worms, Trojans and disgruntled employees. Significantly, the ZyWALL USG 2000, a deep packet inspection security platform - incorporating firewall, IDP, content filtering anti-virus, anti-spam and VPN (Virtual Private Network) in a box, offers secure connections between headquarters, branch offices and other third parties, whether on a fixed or wireless connection.

Wi-Fi Control & Performance

Today’s network applications demand converged Wi-Fi voice, data and video services. Lacking the resources of larger enterprises, SMEs need a cost effective, easy to deploy wireless network solution, requiring low levels of support and maintenance while supporting the highest level of security and Quality of Service (QoS). To address this market, ZyXEL offers a choice of business WLAN architectures - Smart AP (Access Point) and WLAN Controller System - reducing the financial and resource burden on the IT team by eliminating complexity within the network, while creating a more streamlined and efficient wireless access management system.

Designed specifically for the SME market’s need for a manageable WLAN solution, ZyXEL provides a hybrid stand-alone AP (NWA-3160), capable of transferring to a centralised management structure at no extra cost. Benefiting from straight forward deployment and management, ZyXEL’s Hybrid AP helps SMEs leverage their existing infrastructure investment while delivering the flexibility to grow Access Points - and gain more wireless access channels on demand. ZyXEL’s Wi-Fi portfolio matches performance and security, and delivers the resilience demanded by today’s businesses who increasingly rely on wireless networks to offers staff the convenience and flexibility to ‘connect anywhere’ within their organizations.

Cost Effective Collaboration through VoIP

The drive to eliminate cost, improve end-user experience and streamline communications management, coupled with the developments in collaborative working practices, has driven demand for a more simplified and flexible unified communications infrastructure. ZyXEL’s IP PBX solution addresses this requirement, delivering a host of functions including call forwarding, desktop dial-in and crucially, the cost savings of a converged voice and data network.

Utilizing its highly intuitive Click-to-Talk call centre application, ZyXEL eliminates the bottlenecks and ensures significantly improved communication with customers, providing the catalyst for excellent customer service, increasing loyalty and revenue. In addition, ZyXEL’s IP-PBX web-based management system ensures rapid deployment and ease of maintenance – further reducing the burden on SME IT teams.

The Complete Gigabit Ethernet Solution

Delivering high speed connectivity for today’s cost conscious businesses, ZyXEL’s family of Ethernet switches range from the Chassis (module) switch, right through to 10 Gigabit network solution – providing the high availability businesses demand with minimal capital investment and maximum levels of scalability and performance. To complete the range, ZyXEL also offers cost competitive L3 (Layer3) switches and web managed L2 (Layer2) switches to enable enterprise grade, high-performance routing and connectivity to multiple LANs.
